I recently joined my college's Quidditch team and I've got to say its been pretty awesome. Does anyone else here play or watch?

It's actually a real game. I have seen people play this but it's not something I could see myself getting into. I'm glad you enjoy it though.

Well,

Do you have the Nimbus 3000 yet? Or are you using a Firebolt. Heard those good ol'things are quick, mate!

I love it. It is probably one of the most intense sports I've played.

There's basically four elements:

Chasers are the ones who pass and run the scoring ball (quaffle) and attempt to throw it through the opposing teams goal.

Beaters throw dodge-balls (bludgers) at members of the opposing team. If you are hit, you must drop the ball and tag your goal before you can interfere with play.
There's a lot of strategy here.

I'm a keeper right now. I keep the other team from scoring using any means necessary. Quidditch is full contact sport, so I'll usually try to tackle them when they get close, trying to take the ball.

Oh yeah and the game is over when someone catches the snitch

I think I'm going to custom make my own.... They don't build them like they used to :)

I wouldn't double post. Just edit posts next time.

Also, I've heard of this but i'm interested in how the snitches work. What are they and how do they work in real life?

Sorry about the double post. I know it's not a good thing, but I was responding to two different questions and couldn't keep up lol.

Snitches are the most awesome part of the game. They have a really quick guy dress in yellow and hang a tennis ball in a tube sock from the back of his waistband.
Seems stupid, right? Well, its actually pretty cool. They run around and avoid capture. They can ride bikes/climb trees/hide in the audience. Just whatever they want. It makes the game a lot of fun to watch lol.

Looks like a chaotic game to be honest with you, there are to 'many' people running around on the field a newcomer would probably not even understand what is going on. I also noticed the searcher caught the 'snitch' by pulling his broomstick away, shouldn't he maybe try to wrestle him down to catch him?
Once upon a time, there used to be a signature. Then it got lame, and now I'm out of options for a new one.

It is chaotic, you're right about that. But it really isn't that bad when you see it live. The youtube footage isn't the best, it's not like watching the two teams play live.

Also, the snitch stays out of the area for most of the game, so that distraction is gone.

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

Sounds interesting enough. Although it would seem the disadvantage here would be that 2 seekers would catch a fast guy (because seekers are fast too) and the chasers and keepers aren't really needed. That is, if you go by the same scoring guide as the HP series.

The snitch runner isn't on a team and each team has a seeker to catch him. Our scoring system is 10 points for a goal and 30 points for catching the snitch. The chasers usually score the majority of the points. I didn't mention earlier that the snitch runner gets a 5 min head start and can go anywhere he wants.
